Hello and welcome to our library website!
My name is Cindy Duke and this is my 12th year as a librarian in Meridian. I taught Kindergarten and was an Alabama Reading Initiative Coach for 28 years prior.
I have exciting things planned for this year! I can't wait to see the amazing things our students will accomplish!
MEDIA CENTER VISION
The library media program strives to create and support an environment in which all learners become effective users of ideas and information and achieve the standards set by the state of Mississippi and Meridian Public Schools.
Goals of the Library Media Program
To cultivate a love of reading
To provide a broad range of quality resources to support the curriculum and to support recreational reading interests
To teach students to become effective and ethical users of print and electronic information
To encourage all students to become lifelong learners
Schedule
Students visit once a week with their class for book check out and a lesson. K-1 leave their books in the classroom. 2-5 are able to take their books home. Students are encouraged to choose books that interest and excite them.
Lessons are planned and implemented using the MDE College and Career Readiness Standards for Libraries as well as the ISTE Standards for Technology. The lessons are also designed to reinforce classroom instruction.
