Volunteering can have a wonderful positive impact on mental health because it can help reduce stress levels, give a sense of purposefulness, and provide an opportunity to meet new people. There are so many opportunities to volunteer in the community! Below are just some ideas; if you don't think any of these options suit you, try doing some more digging. There is definitely a service opportunity out there that you would enjoy! As a result of the current COVID crisis, most organizations are making changes to their volunteer policies. If you want to help serve your community and you aren't sure what an organization is doing to utilize volunteers in a safe way, contact that organization!

While temporarily closed, the Rahr West Art Museum offers many great opportunities to volunteer your time, from special events like Sputnikfest to regular monthly shifts.

Peter's Pantry

From the website: "Volunteers are the lifeblood of Peter’s Pantry and they provide an invaluable service every day. It is through the help of 60 to 80 volunteers that the pantry can function. Daily 15 to 20 volunteers are needed to operate, maintain, and help the recipients. The heart of the pantry is caring, concerned volunteers who always treat the recipients with the utmost respect and courtesy. The volunteers keep the pantry organized, clean, and running smoothly so the recipients can receive much-needed food."
