INSTRUMENT LESSONS/REHEARSALS

LESSONS:

Lessons are provided during school at no cost.

Students will be placed in small instructional groups.
Lessons are 30 minutes once a week
Students are responsible for any missed work during band/strings time
- Monday: MES-Band/Strings
- Tuesday: SRS-Band/Strings
- Wednesday: EWS-Band/Strings
- Thursday: GWS-Band/Strings
- Friday: DWS-Strings/Band

REHEARSAL (MORNING BAND/STRINGS)

Morning Band/Orchestra happens BEFORE SCHOOL for 5th graders starting in October and running all year
Check with your child's teacher for 4th grade before school schedule
Before school band/orchestra start: 8:00 am
Doors open at the time above, not earlier.

Instrumental music occurs during the school day and is a graded and tested subject in line with art, music, and PE. Instrumental music students are graded formally and informally on their skill development and acquisition, ensemble skills, music reading, and completion of homework assignments (at-home practice). Instrumental music students are also expected to attend the scheduled concerts and other performances. Our curriculum maps are available on the MPSD Curriculum and Instruction Website.
