My name is Jackie Votta, and I teach 6th grade science for Team 6D. I am very excited for the new school year, and I look forward to working with you this year!
This September marks the beginning of my seventeenth year at Lakeside! I have spent most of my career, so far, working as a science teacher in both eighth and sixth grades, and I have also taught all 3 levels of the AVID elective! In the summer, I work as a Staff Developer for AVID Center, which I have done for 7 years. As a Staff Developer, I have worked training teachers from all over the country on how to best implement AVID strategies into their daily classroom activities. My goal for this year is to help all of my students learn how to use the critical reading process to learn and understand science content.
As for my personal life, I come from a small family of four. I grew up in Voorhees, NJ. At the end of my college career, I relocated to the Jersey Shore and lived in Brigantine for 12 years. I moved back to Voorhees about six years ago. It was a much needed change! I love spending time at the beach, both in the water and on the sand. I am an extremely active person, and I enjoy all different types of exercise. I have been travelling recently, and I have absolutely developed a love for it!
I look forward to getting to know all of my new students! We are going to have a great year!
