MA19.1.22 Compose two-dimensional shapes (rectangles, squares, trapezoids, triangles, half-circles, and quarter-circles) or three-dimensional shapes (cubes, right rectangular prisms, right circular cones, and right circular cylinders) to create a composite shape and compose new shapes from the composite shape.
MA19.1.21 Build and draw shapes that have defining attributes.
Activity
Objective: The learner will be able to distinguish between defining attributes (e.g., number of sides and vertices) and non-defining attributes (e.g., color, size of shapes). The learner will be able to build and/or draw shapes according to the defining attributes given to them.
Directions: After learning about the different types of shapes and their attributes, students were tasked with using different shapes to design their own "Geometry City" on Google Slides. Students were given the freedom to choose what buildings were in their "Geometry City" but had to include a flag labeled "Student's Name City".
Students were provided with instructions on how to manipulate shapes, resize shapes, etc.
