Summer Spanish Work (Tarea)

The summer work for next school year will be useful to help you review and practice your Spanish as best as possible. You can complete this review by utilizing the website SpanishDict.com, the world’s most popular Spanish-English dictionary, translation, and learning website. 

Students entering Spanish II-  VOCABULARY topics that should be reviewed:

 *Practice vocabulary covered during Spanish I by completing all the following lessons utilizing the spanishdict.com website: 

1. Introductions

2. Getting Started

3. We are family

4. At the restaurant

5. Start a conversation

6. Let's go Shopping

* Practice grammatical topics covered during Spanish I by completing all the following lessons utilizing the spanishdict.com website:

· Gender and number of nouns 

· Adjective formation and agreement 

· Formation of present tense verbs

· Formation of stem change in present tense verbs

· Formation of preterite verbs 

· “Ser” Vs “Estar” 

· Use of the verb “gustar”  

· Uses of the preterite vs. the imperfect

*During the first week of classes, you will have a chance to showcase how well you have prepared during the summer for this course as you will complete some oral and written assignments that will be graded.

Students entering AP Spanish 

AP Spanish  is a class that focuses on reviewing all of the grammar and vocabulary that you have learned in levels 1-3, but the focus is practicing these in context. The class is held exclusively in Spanish, so it is important to strengthen your listening skills, as well as your reading and speaking abilities in Spanish. Your assignments this summer will have you doing just that.

1. Start by reviewing Spanish II & Spanish III vocabulary and grammar lessons using spanishdict.com. I would review as many lessons as possible.

2. Watch and listen to a Youtube channel called “Dreaming Spanish” where you can listen to many stories and learn about cultural events. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCouyFdE9-Lrjo3M_2idKq1A

3. Read and listen to Spanish books using https://www.readinga-z.com/worldlanguages/spanish/leveled-books/ -- if you’ve never read anything substantial (more than a page or two) you should get used to doing that, since we will read TWO novels in Spanish during the year. This website has books for all levels and all ages. Many of them will be REALLY easy for you. So look around and find something that is the right fit.
