Hello! I am Desiree Hyrkas (pronounced her-kiss), Waite Park's licensed Library Media Specialist.  This year, I will be at Waite Park Tuesday, Thursday, and rotating Fridays. I will be at Pillsbury School on Monday, Wednesday, and rotating Fridays.

I have my Bachelor’s Degree in German from the College of Saint Benedict and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from Dominican University, with education classes from Saint Catherine University. I also have taken a course from the College of St. Scholastica on integrating coding into the classroom.

I have been teaching in the library since 2005. I taught for a private school in Anoka for seven years before moving to Minneapolis Public Schools in 2012. I started at Waite Park in 2024.
