Greetings Everyone and Welcome!   I am excited to be in my 28th year of teaching . I returned to Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) 5 years ago with this new year returning to Nighthawk Land where I began my career here at MPS Northeast Middle School, a school which has held a special place in my heart through out my career! I am looking forward creating  a thriving choir and performing arts program! In addition I will be collaborating and teaching with Project Success in the after school musical theatre program.

I was born and raised here in the Midwest and love living in and calling Minnesota my home.  Growing up in Iowa I began playing piano around the age of 5. From there, began playing flute in band, joined choir in 8th grade along with voice lessons at the age of 14.  Singing stole my heart the first time I heard opera. My parents, who are musicians, music educators and my colleagues took my sister and me to hear an opera recital. I was mesmerized with my eyes and ears being wide open.  I knew I had to sing!  The voice is something unlike any other instrument. It is personal and comes from within each and everyone of us.

I earned a Bachelor of Music in Education from the University of Minnesota.  During my Golden Gopher college experience, I performed with the University of Minnesota Chamber Singers and Opera. Since then, I have performed in professional and nonprofessional choirs, plays, comedies and musicals on and off stage. I am currently a contracted professional singer in the Minnesota Chorale.  It is always a joy to sing with MN Chorale and the Grammy award winning Minnesota Orchestra at Orchestra Hall .

My teaching career began at Northeast Middle School and then to North High, MPS. Throughout my teaching career I have had the pleasure of teaching Pre-K through Community College in Minnesota, Iowa and Texas. I have performed professionally and Non-professionally in the states of Minnesota, Iowa, Texas and California. Middle School and High School choirs under my direction have received high honorable performance awards. Private vocal students, who have studied with me, have received music college scholarships and high honors advancing their success in singing and music teaching careers.

My Minnesota home is complete with my 15-year-old kitty, King Solstice Midnight, who thinks he is the boss. When I am not practicing/performing music, I am usually out shooting photographs, spending time with friends and family, and trying out new restaurants. I enjoy golf, dancing, card & board games, boating. reading, watching Sci-fi, cooking, and a new favorite to watch is interior design show "Escape to The Chateau."
