The goal of the SEL exploration stage is to allow time to assess the match between school community SEL needs and resources and to ensure implementation readiness. Building shared language and buy-in with all stakeholders and developing a shared vision ensure a strong foundation for implementing social-emotional learning through the three-prong approach (whole school, whole day, whole child). The SEL exploration stage aligns with the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) School Guide.
Current Cohort Schools: Utilize the exploration stage guidance to ensure completion of all activities. Participate in adult SEL practice profile development. Deepen direct instruction work, participate in action research through REAA, deepen family engagement through the parent participatory evaluation process.
Pre-Cohort Schools: Complete the exploration stage activities to ensure implementation readiness.
