Acting & Drama
Ms. Rhonda Lund has been teaching acting, drama, and theatre for over 25 years and brings her love of the stage to us in after-school. Students will learn the skills they need to feel confident performing in front of their peers and others. Each week, students will do warm-up exercises, write and perform skits, and work on their acting skills.
Anime & Ramen
Love drawing and watching Anime? This club is for you! Students will build their anime drawing skills using books and tools to perfect their characters while hanging out with other students who love Anime. We will watch Anime from Crunchyroll and make and enjoy different types ramen noodles!
Arts & Crafts Studio - Unified
Join Craft Club, a fun and inclusive creative space where students of all abilities come together to make art, learn new skills, and build friendships. We work with clay, paper mache, paint, beads, and other mediums. This club is partnered with Unified through Special Olympics of Minnesota, celebrating inclusion and teamwork through hands-on projects and creative expression.
Bites & Board Games
Come and play games with friends while making delicious snacks like pizza, popcorn, and other treats. Students will have access to a variety of board games and have fun while hanging out and snacking.
Chess Club
Join a group of players to practice your skills and play against others. Students will receive coaching and work together to gear up for the Check It Out Chess Tournament! Beginners are also welcome.
Contact Plus YWCA
This club mixes real-life skills with real fun! Think connection, arts & crafts, team challenges, and creative activities that keep you moving while learning. Topics include: friendship, confidence, communication, and healthy choices.
Drawing with Young Rembrandts
Young Rembrandts brings visual artists to lead students in structured drawing. Instructors will teach the skills needed to master drawing. Students will leave with a new skill that will take their art to the next level!
Dungeons & Dragons
Step into a world of imagination, teamwork, and unforgettable adventures! Whether you're a seasoned hero or completely new to the game, the D&D Club welcomes all adventurers. Create your own character, team up with friends, and experience epic quests filled with magic, mystery, and monsters.
Flux - Makers Space
Design Teacher, Mx. Carlson, brings you this fun and techy after-school club built for students who love to fix, tinker, and play. FLUX is Sanford's electronics and maker club. We 3D design and print, solder circuits, fix broken electronics, and build things. Whatever you want to make. No experience needed!
Futsal
Futsal is similar to soccer but played with a smaller ball and in a gym. Fast-paced, fun, and open to all skill levels, this club is the perfect place to build your footwork, teamwork, and confidence. Whether you're new to the game or already skilled on the court, you'll learn new techniques, play exciting matches, and develop your game.
Girls, Inc. YWCA
An empowering after-school space for girls and young women to build leadership skills, boost confidence, and explore their potential. Through fun activities, mentorship, and real-world learning, Girls, Inc. helps you grow stronger, smarter, and more courageous—together! Do fun activities like playing games, making slime, bath bombs, lip balm, journals, and more.
History Day
Explore the past and bring history to life! Research a topic of your choice, develop a project, and prepare to compete in Minnesota History Day. With guidance at every step, students will build strong research, writing, and presentation skills while creating a project they’re proud of. Ms. Pilon and Ms. Monroe will lead this group.
Jazz Band
Calling all student musicians! Join our weekly Jazz Band with Mr. Erickson to learn classic and modern jazz styles, strengthen your ensemble skills, and make great music with others. Together, we’ll explore improvisation, rhythm, and performance techniques—all while preparing for exciting community gigs and school events. If you play an instrument and love to groove, this is the place for you!
LEGO Challenges
If you love to build, imagine, and create, LEGO Club is the place for you! Join fellow builders each week to take on exciting challenges, design original creations, and compete in friendly contests. You’ll have the chance to showcase your best work and push your creativity to new heights. Come build something amazing—brick by brick!
Magic: The Gathering
Join us weekly to play, learn, and master Magic: The Gathering! Whether you're brand-new or a seasoned spellcaster, you'll build decks, develop strategy, and face off in fun, friendly matches. Come trade cards, meet fellow players, and level up your game!
Murder & Mystery Book Club
Love a good twist? Join Ms. Olsen’s Murder & Mystery Book Club, where students read a thrilling YA novel and dive into weekly discussions. Share theories, uncover clues, and explore each plot twist together as we unravel the story one chapter at a time.
Neighborhood Explorers
Do you want to just get outside and explore while hanging out with friends? Let's explore longefellow together! Students will hammock in the park, play basketball outside, walk to Dairy Queen and get some ice cream, take a river hike, and more!
Open Gym - Unified
Join students of all abilities for a fun, inclusive Open Gym experience! Each week, we’ll play soccer, basketball, volleyball, and a variety of other gym games together. This club focuses on teamwork, friendship, and active fun. Everyone is welcome, and everyone plays!
Pride S.A.G.E
For LGBTQIA+ Students and Allies. Have fun in community! You will do projects, crafts, have snacks, play games, and have fun being who you are! Pride partners with the MPLS Out4Good department. Extra activities include a Queer Middle School Dance and Q-Quest field trip in the spring.
Scratch & Video Game Design
Create, code, and compete with Mr. Crabtree! In this middle school club, students will design their own video games using Scratch and have the chance to showcase their skills in friendly competitions for prizes. Unleash your creativity and see your games come to life!
Sewing - Learn to Sew
Join Ms. Michelle, a community member and former Fashion Designer, in our after-school sewing studio to learn how to machine sew! Students will learn how to follow patterns, create stuffies, bags, and pillows, and leave proficient in sewing.
Stitch Lab - Advanced Sewing Studio
Students who are proficient in using a machine can join this open studio group to work on personal projects. Students will have access to machines, fabric, patterns, and all supplies to create whatever they can imagine. Ms. Michelle will supervise, coach, and assist.
Urban 4H - Growing and Cooking
Explore the intersection of food, science, and social impact in Urban 4-H! Dive into hydroponic gardening, cooking, and food justice projects while learning about climate change and other real-world issues. Students make stir-fry, taste microgreens, create smoothies, and pho!
Urban Debate Team
Sharpen your voice, think on your feet, and engage with real-world issues in the Urban Debate League Club! Learn debate skills, research strategies, and effective public speaking while participating in friendly competitions. Build confidence, critical thinking, and the power to make your ideas heard!
Willy Wonka Musical - Project Success
Project Success will be producing Willy Wonka the Musical this fall at Sanford! Students must audition and be cast to register for this group.
