Onika Miller

As an educator, I believe that the single most important aspect of teaching is the ability to forge authentic relationships with students.

I began my teaching career in 1998 as a paraprofessional in a Setting III Special Education Classroom. It was so fulfilling for me to be able to connect with students and pour into their lives. So much so, that I went back to school to obtain my teaching license. I became licensed in 2010 as a Special Education Teacher and I haven't looked back since. I recieved my Master of Arts Degree in 2014, and I am currently working on my Principal License.

The majority of my experience has been at the middle school level. However, at the beginning of the 2019-20 school year, I began teaching at Jenny Lind Elementary School. I am so honored to have this opportunity to expand my learning and become apart of the Jenny Lind community.

A fun fact about me....I have lived in the Jenny Lind neighborhood for a long time and my son was actually a student here from 1st-6th grade (Yes, at one point Jenny Lind was looking to expand to a K-8.......it never happened).

My philosophy around education is grounded in equity. I believe that it is my job to advocate for students who are underserved, overlooked and the most vulnerable to ensure they have access to a free appropriate public education.

Again, I am grateful to be apart of the Jenny Lind community and I welcome your emails and/or phone calls.
