About Me: Hello! I have been a School Counselor for 11 years, (8 of them here at North), and there is no other place I'd rather be! I began my Counseling career in NYC where I received my Master's from New York University in Applied Psychology for School Counseling K-12 in 2013. I believe in being understanding, compassionate, and empathetic to student needs to help them excel in school. One's current circumstance does not predict their future! My passion is supporting students in achieving their goals while having lots of fun along the way! Go Polars!

About Me: Hello, I am Bree and a North High Alumni! My interest in youth work began with coaching cheer. I have been working with young people for the past 7 years in mentoring, advocating and coaching. I have a BA in Youth Studies and currently working on finishing my masters in Psychology Education. This will be my first year as a school counselor and I am excited to be back at North! My goal is to continue to be an advocate, support, and encouragement for students while empowering them to be advocates for themselves!
The mission of the Counseling Team at North High School is to provide social-emotional support in order to assist all students in achieving their personal and academic goals and to ensure college and career readiness for each student. Our vision is to implement a comprehensive school counseling program while collaborating with students, staff, families, and the community to provide opportunities that result in the best outcome for every student.
School Counselors:
Provide social emotional support, solution-focused counseling, and short-term crisis interventions for students in collaboration with other support staff
Assist students with academic planning, goal setting, and class schedules in collaboration with teachers
Maintain credit evaluations to ensure students are on track for graduation
Support students in post-secondary planning (college & career readiness with support from our College & Career Coordinator)
Support students with alternative education plans
Assist with referrals to other school & mental health supports (School Social Workers, School-based Therapy/Northpoint clinic, School Psychologist)
If you have an urgent mental health need, please call Hennepin County Child Crisis at 612-348-2233 or if it is an emergency, dial 911.
Thank you,
Ms. Patience & Ms. Baylis
