The original "Yonder Come Day" was sung by the Sea Island Singers, which at the time featured Bessie Jones. Bessie Jones is an African-American folk singer who is primarily known for her incredible work documenting and writing about traditional African-American folk songs, stories, and games dating back pre-Slavery and making those resources available to a wider audience.
