About Ms. Armstrong:
Welcome to my teacher webpage. I am so excited to be at Burroughs for my 3rd academic school year!
My fourteen years as a music educator have seen me in public schools, as well as teaching private voice lessons. My first five years in MPS I was a choral and classroom music teacher at Southwest High School. During this period, I also completed my doctorate at the University of Minnesota. I rely daily on the experiences I have formed as both an educator and a graduate student, introducing students to foundational singing techniques, music theory and history, and an examination of music in the context of the world we live in today. All of these elements, along with a respectful classroom learning environment, allow us to collaborate toward artistry every day.
In addition to teaching, I have been a featured soloist with The Singers - Minnesota Choral Artists (of which I have been a member for 14 seasons) and The Bach Roots Festival. In 2019, I sang an exhibition of contemporary art songs at the National Association of Teachers of Singing National Convention as a guest of Graphite Publishing. I have also performed and recorded with The Mirandola Ensemble, a chamber group based here in the Twin Cities.
My memberships in the American Choral Directors Association and Minnesota Music Educators Association ensures that I remain apprised of new trends and practices in music education, especially as our world continues to change rapidly.
