5th PERIOD

This standards-based course builds upon students’ prior skills and knowledge of reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, word usage, and formal and creative writing mechanics. Students will further their understanding of communication through reading, writing, speaking, and listening. We will work on critically analyzing and responding thoughtfully to literature using academic lenses. This course will introduce and define various genres of literature, with writing exercises often linked to reading selections.
