Ms. Johnson
Hi All! My name is Maija Johnson and this is my third year teaching Social Studies in Minneapolis, second at Edison. I am teaching Economics, and US Government and am excited to be back here in Northeast Minneapolis!
Here is a little background on me. I grew up in North Branch before moving to the Twin Cities for college at the University of Minnesota. I have a Bachelor's Degree from there in History with minors in Philosophy and Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies. I then took a little time to figure out what my next step was before going to Hamline University for their Masters in the Arts of Teaching program. After receiving my teaching license, I was a substitute teacher at Mounds View and Saint Paul Schools. I then got hired at Belle Plaine High School and spent four years driving two hours a day there before getting hired at Minneapolis Southwest. I love teaching Social Studies and getting kids excited about being good citizens of the world!
