Studio Art

Grades 9-12. An introductory course in Art offering a variety of exploration. This will include foundations in drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and mixed mediums. Students will use a daily process journal to investigate and research works of art from a historical and contemporary point of view, develop skills and material technique, create works of art, and respond through artist statements, peer critique, and student exhibition.

IB Art 

Grades 11-12. IB is a course in Art offered to students seeking certification in our IB Diplomacy Programme. This is a 2 year course that revolves around 3 aspects of art practice: theoretical practice, art making practice, and curatorial practice. As an IB Visual Arts student, you are all of these: a critic, a maker, and a curator. Work is assessed using comparative study (20%), Process Portfolio (40%), and Exhibition (40%). 

Murals

Grades 9-12. Did you know human beings have been creating art longer than they've known how to grow their own food? Going way back to the beginning of time, cave art communicated things linked directly to human survival: the move of the herd, what direction the sun is rising, how to use tools, and even the seasons! Students in murals will look through the scope of public art in a historical and contemporary context. The goal is working towards a small scale mural that can make a positive impact on our school community at Henry.
