Welcome to Language Arts with Ms. Shelby!

Hello! My name is Shelby Dale DeWeese (she/her). You can call me Ms. Shelby! I teach English Language Arts for 6th and 8th grades. I completed my student teaching here at Sanford, and am excited to be back after starting my teaching career in another district.

Before I started teaching, I attended school at the University of Southern California, the University of San Francisco, and the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. I also spent several years working in education nonprofits that focused on writing, leadership, and visual arts.

I live in Northeast Minneapolis with my husband, my daughter, and two rabbits.

Language Arts 6

In Language Arts 6, we will grow our skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. As students transition into middle school, they'll build on skills they've learned in years prior and apply those skills in new ways.
