Hello!!! :)   Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!! My name is Kellie Silcox Skinner (Perez) and the students call me Ms. Perez.  I live in White Bear Lake, MN.  I grew up on the Iron Range in Virginia, MN. I love to go up north during my free time and hunt and fish at our families cabin. I got married over Memorial Day Weekend to my High School Sweetheart Mike two years ago. I have a daughter named Justine who is 29 years old!  I know - I cant even believe I have a 29 year old daughter!  I have 3 step-children ages 30-35. I obtained my teaching degree from Concordia College.  I received my Masters in Education Administration from St. Mary’s.  I’m three classes away from being licensed as an Elementary Principal.  I’ve been teaching for 32 Years.  Thirty years with the Minneapolis School District as a SPEN teacher, fourth/fifth grade teacher, first/second grade teacher and a reading teacher and 2 years teaching EBD in Florida.

I also held a job working for Scholastic Books as a Read 180 teacher trainer for the Midwest Region. This reading program targets students who are reading below grade level.  I trained and taught Read 180 for two years with the Minneapolis School District. 

I have held numerous duties during my time in the Minneapolis School District. I was co-chair of the Leadership Team and Site Council as well as the first/second grade Lead Teacher.  Also, I have been a very active member of the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers Union taking on the role of Building Union Steward.  

I look forward to getting to know you better as the year progresses. We have a very special year ahead of us and I’m grateful to be an integral part of the journey. LET'S DO THIS!!!
