Syllabus Highlights

Physical Science introduces students to the skills that scientists utilize when doing science. Students will engage in projects that introduce the basic concepts of physics, chemistry, and Earth science.

This is a Middle Years Program (MYP) class. Students will be graded on an 8 point rubric based on their current level of understanding. Assessments will be a variety of activities including quizzes, labs and projects.

Grades will be broken down into 90% assessments. For each assessment, students will be told BEFORE the assessment if there will be a reassessment opportunity. The other 10% of their grade will be practice. Mistakes are expected. It is how we learn best. This part of the grade is where students will be expected to make mistakes and learn from them. They will not be penalized for mistakes made as part of the learning process.
