Participatory Methods

Participatory methods, such as a Graffiti Wall, the Human Likert Scale, or Sticker Voting, are conducted in a public setting (like the lunchroom, gym, or hallways). They aim to gather feedback from a large and diverse audience.

These methods can be a fun way to quickly get information from a lot of people. They are relatively easy to add on to an event, like a school assembly, recess, or passing time.

You won't, however, get much depth in responses. As such, these methods often serve as a starting place to get a general sense of how a group feels about an issue, followed by a traditional data collection method like focus groups that allow evaluators to dig in and ask deeper questions.
