I am delighted to be back at Seward this year teaching 4th and 5th grades in our Montessori Program. This marks my 21st year teaching in Minneapolis, my 14th year at Seward.
I hold a BA in Interpersonal Communications with a minor in Social Studies from Augsburg College and an MEd from the U of M in Elementary Education. My additional post graduate work has been in Special Education at the U of M and Reading at Hamline College. My Montessori training was taken at the University of New Rochelle at the New York Center for Montessori Teacher Education.
Minneapolis is a great place to live and raise children. My husband, Peter, and I lived in Minneapolis for 29 years and sent our two sons, Nathan and Daniel, to Minneapolis Public Schools. Both sons received a quality education and had great teachers who helped shape them as teenagers and young adults. I am grateful for the many great teachers and schools they had here in Minneapolis!
Our youngest son participated in Minnesota and National History Day in Middle School through High School. He has since earned his doctorate in History. I emphasize this to highlight that his passion started in MPLS public Schools with a History teacher encouraging his students with "You can go to Nationals if you are willing to do the work!"
Peter, Daniel and I at Chicago's Millenial Park
Nathan and Daniel are both married and live in the Twin Cities with their families. We see them often, along with our lovely grandchildren Analise, Luca, Adelaide and our newest grajnson, Bennett, (who arrived three weeks ago!), We love getting together on the weekends.
We have a very round Scottish Terrier named Bailey, who is also part of our family. Bailey is getting too old for walking very far, but he is wonderful with the grandchildren.
Peter and I love to take walks in our new neighborhood in Burnsville. We live near a large wooded park and have enjoyed daily walks through the woods during COVID. We also like to bike and enjoy bike rides in MPLS! Of course!
This past summer my son's family and I planted a large vegetable garden in Daniel's back yard. It brought back memories of picking vegetables on my grandparents' far when I was a child. . Now, we are feasting on lots of tomatoes, green beans, cucumbers, zucchini, cabbage, kale, potatoes, and peppers. We we hope to pick the melons soon!
I also enjoy yoga, working out, cooking, playing board games, reading and meeting with my book group.
