Through our wonderful partnership with Vocal Essence, our students receive music and choir every Friday morning. Once a month, their children join our choir time to learn singing, rhythm, and movement.Â
Under the direction of nationally recognized Vocal Essence Associate Artistic Director, Dr. G. Phillip Shoultz, III (GPS, to our students) and his brilliant esteemed colleauge, Engagement and Communities Manager, Emma Jirele Sandhurst, Longfellow students learn music theory, history, and cultural connections. GPS and Emma also invite guests in from all over the country and world to perform for AND WITH our students and their children.
Students can earn up to .25 credit in choir or an elective by particpating and collaborating for the full year in this course. Students earn .084 credit per quarter.
We meet in the Longfellow Gym every Friday during 2nd hour.
