School Librarians are Certified Teachers and are Licensed by the State of Minnesota. Certification is obtained through University Graduate Programs. Librarians most often earn a Master of Library of Science Degree before entering the profession. The Librarians at South are licensed, certified, and have Masters of Science Degrees.
MPS Literacy Goal
One of four major strategic goals for the Minneapolis Public Schools is to promote literacy. Libraries are all about literacy.
