This is my 29th year of teaching at the secondary level. I am excited to start the new school year. This is my 6th year at Longfellow Alternative High School. It truly is a privilege and honor to be a school teacher with MPS. We have an amazing staff at Longfellow. I look forward to working with parents, guardians, staff, students and their children as we begin the odyssey of a new school year.

I earned a BA degree in History and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1988. I hold teaching licenses in Special Education, K - 12, and a Social Studies license 7 - 12. I earned my M.Ed. from the University of Minnesota in 1998.

I would like to share a quote I recently read that is inspiring and encouraging. It is by Maxim Gorky, a Russian writer from the 20th century, it reads:

"Life is always surprising us, not by the rich seething layer of refuse - but by the bright, healthy and creative human powers of goodness that are forever forcing their way up through it. It is those powers that awaken our indestructible hope that a brighter, better and more humane life will once again be reborn."
