Program Design

Learning Experiences

In MPS, we believe that the core foundations of the Hmong Program’s success is measured in the value that the students and communities take with them from the learning and experiences we provide.

The intensity and integrity of the program design, structure, and leadership lends itself to a meaningful mission with a purpose to excel, expand, and nurture bilingual learners in a multilingual global community.

INstruction

Biliteracy Strategies/Cross-Linguistic Transfers

All instructional teachers have a shared commitment to equity and the value of multilingualism and biliteracy-oriented programming.

Teachers implement research-based best practice strategies such as Translanguaging on the teaching of biliteracy. Such strategies utilize oracy, vocabulary, reading, and writing instruction to maximize academic achievement in target and partner languages. Structures and routines of these strategies are used to facilitate language transfer. Paired literacy instruction is also used to strengthen the learning of languages in the classroom so that one language does not have to suffer in learning another language.
