HIA Site Lead for the Mental Health Collaboration

Hello HIA! My name is Mai Yia Her and I am the Site Lead Therapist at HIA. This is my 6th year at HIA as the Lead Therapist. I'm excited to be back to continue to work alongside HIA staff and with students and families. I have my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Saint Mary's University and Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of MN - Twin Cities. On my down time, I enjoy sports, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.

Kevin

Therapist

Kevin received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas and is currently working on obtaining his M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Kevin enjoys playing board games, video games, and spending time with friends and family.

Hannah

Therapist

My name is Hannah and I am a graduate student in the Counseling Psychology program at the University of St. Thomas. I am very excited to begin my practicum at Hmong International Academy! I love working with children and have a great deal of experience working with this population in numerous settings, such as clinics, hospitals, and camps. When I am not working, I love to spend time with my golden doodle! She is 9 years old and a lot of fun! I look forward to meeting you! :)

Kari

Therapist

Käri Nielsen (she/her) has worked with children and teens as a teaching artist, performer, and choreographer in a wide variety of settings for over a decade. Käri graduated with degrees in theatre and dance from Loyola University Chicago with training at the London Dramatic Academy. She is currently in her final year at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota pursuing a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She cannot wait to start working with students and families from both Marcy Open School and Hmong International Academy! She loves animals, especially her very small rescue cat with a very long name.
