Help us create an environment where students can develop positive eating habits, understand how food fuels the body, and experience the flavors of our local and global cultures by joining in our events and celebrations to promote the True Food served at all MPS schools!
Join us for the Farm to School Community BBQ on Wednesday, Oct. 1 from 4-6:30 p.m. at the MPS Culinary Center located at 812 Plymouth Ave N.
This free event offers an evening of good food, local farmers, and family fun and celebrates our commitment to supporting small to mid-sized farmers, serving fresh and locally grown food in our lunchrooms, and educating students and families about the importance of local food, agriculture, wellness and nutrition.

Join us on October 9 for the Minnesota Great Apple Crunch! This celebration encourages healthy eating, supports farm to school in our region, and provides a fun way to connect food and agriculture to classroom learning. We'll serve local apples with lunch and schools participating in FFVP (Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program) will receive apples to celebrate in their classrooms.
All schools are welcome to organize a lunch crunch event! You can learn more in the crunch guide and register your event with the state.
True Food Tastings help students experience new ingredients, flavors, and textures. These lunchroom events encourage students to be adventurous eaters and apply critical thinking skills to food.
True Food Tastings for the 2024-2025 school year will take place in November, February, and May. Check back for ways to promote these events in your classroom or school!
On Minnesota Thursdays, we set the table with a delicious, locally sourced meal. Minnesota Thursdays feature unique and emerging food makers plus the best of our locally sourced, seasonal produce and proteins raised sustainably in our region. Resources to promote these meals in your school or classroom are coming soon!
Check out our monthly menus to view this month's MN Thursday meal.
Each month, we promote one fruit or vegetable to increase awareness around locally and seasonally sourced fruits and vegetables. This helps to increase the foods, flavors, and textures that MPS students are exposed to across our regular menus, Minnesota Thursdays, and True Food Tastings.
