Fit for life 21-22

Fit For Life

Course Goal: To enable students to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and maintain a health enhancing level of fitness and to increase physical competence, self-esteem and the motivation to pursue lifelong physical activity.

Fitness For Life 1 course is designed to encourage the development of “intelligent performers” and to encourage students to understand the importance of balanced, healthy lifestyles. Students will develop knowledge, critical thinking and reflective skills and a sense of responsibility. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of team and individual sports, which include skills, rules, and game strategy and physical fitness. This overall look at physical activity and physical education will contribute to long-term healthy living. While sports are a part of these courses, they are fitness based, rather than sports based. This course is a prerequisite for graduation and the physical education electives.

About me

I am excited to be at Edison this year. I have been teaching for 15 years and the last 8 have been in Minneapolis Public Schools. I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my dogs. When not in school I can be found outside being active.
