The state of Minnesota annually publishes a school "Report Card". If you follow this link to the Minnesota Department of Education Report Card for Edison High School, you will see our current enrollment and demographic information. You can also navigate across many different topics to read more information from the MN Department of Ed. If you have questions about how to understand or interpret any of this data, please don't hesitate to contact us.

In the fall of 2022, Edison will be celebrating our centennial anniversary. In our almost 100 year history, we have maintained a deeply rooted relationship with the Northeast Minneapolis community that is still vibrant today. We are well supported by our neighbors, including longstanding financial support from the Northeast Lions Club and the Edison Community and Sports Foundation. Our green campus and public artwork have been developed in partnership with the Holland Neighborhood Association.

While we are located geographically in Northeast Minneapolis, we proudly enroll students from all over the city of Minneapolis, especially Northeast, Southeast, and North Minneapolis.

Notable recent graduates include U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar, current City Councilmember Kevin Reich, and MN State Senator Kari Dziedzik, and entrepreneur Precious Drew.

Thomas Edison High School is an International Baccalaureate World School, offering the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) for all 9th and 10th grade students, and the IB Diploma Programme (DP) as an option for all 11th and 12th grade students. We are also an AVID site with student participants in 9-12 grade. In addition to these core academic programs, we have a great variety of wonderful community partners in key areas:

Our Leadership-Entrepreneurship-Environment-Future (LEEF) Program for business and sustainability: Hennepin Technical College, Spark Y, Reve Academy, Junior Achievement, the Northeast Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce, and Voyager.

We have a robust variety of staff and community organizations working together to prepare students for their future in college or a career:

  • Edison Counselors

  • TRIO ETS

  • Achieve Minneapolis

  • Gear Up

  • Project SUCCESS

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters

  • College Possible

  • TRIO Upward Bound
