This standards-based course is designed to build upon students’ prior skills and knowledge of reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, word usage, and the mechanics of formal and creative writing. Students will further their understanding in communication through reading, writing, speaking, and listening. We will work on critically analyzing and responding thoughtfully to literature using academic lenses. This course will introduce and define various genres of literature, with writing exercises often linked to reading selections.
