About me

Hello! My name is Drayton Cousins (he/him/his) and I teach journalism, and English 9. I am also the advisor to our student run newspaper,  The Roosevelt Standard, check it out! This is my second year teaching at Roosevelt and I'm excited to be here. This is my 10th year as a teacher, before Roosevelt I taught at Southwest and Irondale High schools. I only teach part time and spend the rest of the day with my 2 year old son.  Please take some time to explore this website. You will find syllabi, contact information, lesson calendars and more. 

When I am not teaching I love to spend time with friends and family. When it is nice out, I like to be outside biking, running, camping, and walking my dog. I am not above some inside couch activities and have been known to binge a good show and, of course, read a lot. I will post some of the books I've read this summer below. I am always looking for suggestions.
