About me

Hello! My name is Drayton Cousins (he/him/his) and I teach journalism, creative writing,  and AVID 9 & 10. This is my first year teaching at Roosevelt and I'm excited to be here! This is my 10th year as a teacher, before Roosevelt I taught at Southwest and Irondale High schools. I only teach part time and spend the rest of the day with my 1 year old son.  Please take some time to explore this website. You will find syllabi, contact information, lesson calendars and more. 

When I am not teaching I love to spend time with friends and family. When it is nice out, I like to be outside biking, running, camping, and walking my dog. I am not above some inside couch activities and have been known to binge a good show and, of course, read a lot. I will post some of the books I've read this summer below. I am always looking for suggestions!
