Emergency rental assistance due to COVID-19

Hennepin County residents who have been financially harmed by COVID-19 may qualify for emergency assistance to help with rent and other housing costs.

Even though there is a temporary hold on evictions as part of Governor Walz's executive order, rent is still due and landlords may be able to evict tenants with past due rent once restrictions are lifted. Rental assistance can be used to pay this month's rent and utilities, as well as past due rent and utilities from previous months.

Renters are strongly encouraged to apply as soon as possible to ensure rent support is received in time.

Receive Childcare Assistance through Hennepin County

The child care assistance program helps families pay for child care so parents can work, look for a job or attend school. The program is available for children younger than 13 and for children with special needs who are younger than 15.

$15 MILLION in CARES Act funds appropriated by the Hennepin County Board for rent assistance is now available through an online application.

To start an application, complete this online form. If you need help applying, call 612-302-3160.

If you apply for these funds you will also be reviewed for eligibility for Emergency Assistance.
