My name is Sam Kwon and I am excited to lead the Burroughs PTA. My wife, Mary Ann, and I have been part of the Burroughs Community for the past 6 years. We currently have a 6th Grader, Josie, at Justice Page and a 3rd grader, Ryder, at the school. We have loved our time at Burroughs and I am excited to be able to give back to a community that has given so much to my family. There has been so much happening over the last year that has impacted our Burroughs Community. My focus is to continue bringing our community together while pushing to transform our inclusive and diversity goals into action.
I am hoping we can continue to activate the community with strong participation in the PTA as well as volunteerism to advance our objective to strengthen and build our school community. Your voice matters and I want your involvement! Please feel free to reach out to me at any time with questions, comments or just to get-to-know each other. I am excited to be your President and to work with you.
Hello! My name is Amy Polinske, and I am looking forward to being your PTA Treasurer this school year. We currently entering into our last year as a Burroughs family, after 8 years and two children attending this wonderful school. The Polinske family also includes my husband, Beau, and our two children: Vinetta and Casper. Vinetta is now at 8th grader at Justice Page, and Casper has just started 5th grade and is a member of Mr. Hulsey's class. As Treasurer, I am looking forward to serving our school, teachers, and students through thoughtful funding with a focus on doing our very best to ensure all are set up for success. So much of my family's most beloved events at Burroughs happened to also be part of our engaged fundraising: the Read-A-Thon and the Book Fairs. I'm looking forward to helping continue those traditions, as well as working with the PTA and Burroughs community to develop and implement new approaches to funding, and actively supporting our community-minded goals.
Hello! My name is Matt Gardner. Our family has been with Burroughs Elementary for almost a decade through a lot of changes. We started with Eve in 2012 when kindergarten at Burroughs was only half-day and now have Cullen in first grade who has navigated a pandemic, online learning, and all the changes of the CDD. Our middle child Nell graduated Burroughs last year and is now attending Justice Page while Eve has started high school. We are invested in MPS, and I feel fortunate to have had all our children attend Burroughs and become friends with so many wonderful families. I've learned so much from the connections with the teachers, staff, and fellow parents at Burroughs over the years, and I want to make sure that all families feel that support and connection with the community at Burroughs.
