Like many children of immigrants, I felt like I was a part of two distinct worlds that felt galaxies away. My Ecuadorian and American identity used to battle head on, but now they no longer butt heads. Instead they reach out to one another and coexist. In this painting, I wanted to show the bridge of friendship and understanding which both of my cultural identities have come to. The eagle and andean condor, the national bird of the US and Ecuador respectively, closely stay behind me and reach out towards one another.

With these pieces, I wanted to take a risk, include mixed media, and incorporate intricate detail and color. The overall meaning for these three was to incorporate individuality in art, and that uniqueness makes the pieces beautiful in their own way.
