Hayden Tennis: Inclusive Play, Competitive Spirit
All-Inclusive: We welcome players of every skill level, embodying Hayden's mission.
Flexible Rosters: Varsity and JV spots are initially set but remain fluid, offering development opportunities.
Regional & State Pathway: Our top six players for Regionals are determined by season records and challenge matches, with a chance to qualify for State.
Strategic Varsity: Varsity meets are limited to six players with specific point caps.
Active JV: JV meets are frequent and less formal. Coach Voegeli provides details in the Google Classroom.
Please take the time to fill in your contact information, even if you think Coach Sheetz already has it. It will be very helpful!!!

Practices
First Day of Fall Sports Practice
Monday, Aug 18, 2025
Our first practice will be Monday Aug 18, beginning at 3:30 pm. It will be a quick, get to know ya' practice and will probably end early (around 4:30).
After Aug 18 practice will be everyday after school starting at 3:30 unless there is a meet or it rains (we announce 'day of' rain cancellations in google classroom at approx. 2:15 pm)
Fridays are usually shortened if there is a home football game
If you cannot make it to practice, just shoot an email or text

Compete in a t-shirt, tank or hoodie that has the name “Hayden” and or our logo on it.
There is "required" wear in the spirit store, navy tank or navy t shirt

Please be aware of the weather forecast. Bring additional clothing, blankets if the weather is going to be cold

Basic KSHSAA Rules
8 points per player to compete postseason
JV and varsity points:
JV meets are 1/2 point per competition
Varsity meets are 1 point per competition
There are other rules for dual sport
Coaching
Coaches may only coach on the changeover
There are time limits between points, for coaching, etc....
Parents and fans may never coach, but encouragement is GREAT!
Lessons
Players may receive private lessons during the season, but CANNOT ATTEND GROUP LESSONS. (Doubles teams can go to a "private lesson" together.)
If you will be missing practice to attend a private lesson, please just let me know in advance
THINGS YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW
We do not make cuts, all are welcome to play
Players will NOT play in all of the meets on the schedule
Many players will play both JV and Varsity meets, FLEXIBILITY IS A MUST!!!
Meets can be rescheduled because of weather
Parents/fans may not "coach" during play
Player accountability is a MUST!!!!!
Rain, or moisture of any kind can cause a meet to cancel and be rescheduled.
Please be looking for email communications when rain is in the forecast. We also communicate cancelations in the Tennis Google Classroom and on the HAYDEN TENNIS FACEBOOK PAGE

DRIVING TO AWAY MEETS
Your safety is important. You may not drive to a meet from Hayden unless you have filled out a driver's form provided by Hayden.
You can get this form in the office.
The form must be back on file in the office before the meet!

Things happen, and we understand if you are sick!
HOWEVER, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT to let your coaches know if you cannot play. It's just good manners! =) (And it gives someone else the opportunity to compete. )
