Hello my name is Hope Scheid. This is my second year as Oak Knoll PE teacher. I grew up in Menlo Park and was an Oak Knoll Otter, a Hillview Hawk and a Menlo Atherton Bear. After graduating Menlo-Atherton, I attended University of Oregon and San Francisco State University where I earned by bachelor's degree in Child Development. I then attended Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont where I earned a teaching credential and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction.
I grew up playing soccer, basketball, volleyball and softball. I also pole-vaulted at MA where I held the school record for ten years after I graduated. I played soccer in a competitive league up until a couple years ago until I badly injured myself. I was a goalie for all those years and throwing myself on the ground for over 20 years takes a toll on the body. I love to play soccer, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, softball, mountain bike, road bike, rock climb, snowboard, snowshoe, hike, swim, surf, paddle board, river raft, kayak and much more. Each year I try to learn a new sport or activity. What could be next? Golf? Tennis?
