There are a lot of benefits to swimming like getting a scholarship for college and has a lot of health benefits but there are also some cons to it.

Swim has a lot of benefits like getting a scholarship if you are good enough and staying healthy in the more sedentary months, teaching you to watch what you are eating and to work out different body parts to get stronger. There are cons though, it could lead to swimmers ear which is an infection of the outer ear canal which is pretty irritating and causes a lot of problems but without the cons. Swim is pretty good for scholarships and physical fitness.

Differences between Boys and Girls Basketball

The Mount Pleasant Area Girls and Boys Basketball has multiple similarities and even more differences when it comes to rituals, coaching, and gameplay.

Every sports team has their quirks and habits that help all of the players get their heads in the game. Donavin Bair, a sophomore on the boy's basketball team, carries out a warmup with his team before every game. “We do a pregame thing. We come out of the locker room and we run around the court and do some layups,” Bair said.

Girls basketball is a bit different. Haylie Brunson, a sophomore on the girl’s basketball team, has a more personal warmup. “Right before the game, we do handshakes. Then we get in a huddle in the middle of the court and a senior gives us a pep talk,” Brunson said.

Next, the style of coaching and the way practices are run is not quite the same. The girls basketball is Mr. Scott Giacobbi, who runs his practices considerably hard. “Giacobbi is a really intense coach to make us the best possible athletes we can be,” Brunson stated.

Mr. Allan Bilinksy is the boys basketball coach. He is the same as Giacobbi as he pushes his players to be the best that they can be. He is described as enthusiastic and intense when he coaches the boys.

Finally, the even the way the same game is played is different between boys and girls. The pace of the game and the style is very different when looking at both boys and girls basketball. “Walking into a girls game, you will probably see two players fighting over the ball or something. It’s played very physically. A boys game you will see a lot of running. It is played faster and more intensely,” Brunson said.

The gameplay is also affected by the players themselves. Everyone is different in skill level and the way they chose to play.

Overall, both girls and boys basketball can seem simple at surface level, but when closely examined, there are a lot of different aspects that go into the stellar Mount Pleasant teams.
