Join us August 10 for dinner, discourse and space to dream that honors our Black liberatory past, present and future! This mini dream lab will honor the legacy of Black August and create space for radical imagination.
Register using the QR code by August 3 to secure your spot! We look forward to connecting.
We'll hear from musician, fashion designer, and documentarian Black youth. We'll brainstorm together. Envision Black futures and leadership, and start on a new grant fund for projects serving, centering, and led by Black Black youth. Plus some fun and some giveaways. MC'd by the amazing Briannah Hill. Join us!
The YBCL Dream Lab was a two day immersive virtual space for young Black Climate Leaders (ages 18-25) to meet, build, and immerse in arts, community organizing, transformative change, environmental justice, ecological principles, leadership development, and Sankofa (an Akan tradition of honoring the past in order to move forward). Youth were able to connect with each other, and learn from each other and other Black leaders from the greater YBCL community. In the spirit of Octavia Butler, Harriet Tubman, and our countless ancestors who were geniuses in liberation, ecological and cultural beauty, we gathered and built together.
At the YBCL Dream Lab, we also announced a YBCL scholarship available for all participants to support development, leadership, education, personal projects, and/or community work.
October 16, 2021 - Day 1
With the Black Space Manifesto grounding us, we explored the past and potentials of YBCL, met our awesome MCs, heard Okevia's poetry, connected, heard from Ramon Gabrieloff Parish & Mike Wird and made art.
October 17, 2021 - Day 2
From brilliant paths to reimagining new futures we learned about each other's projects, spoke from the heart, and learned about Black climate and justice leaders across the country. Food apartheid and justice! Livelihoods! Land! And we started "seeding the future" for a more powerful, success-filled movement.
