Google Classroom
For students who want a bit more help navigating GC
A tutorial by another teacher that has some helpful tips but read my notes above to make sure you are following MY preferences
For students:
Most of you are already fairly familiar with Google Classroom, but here are a few pointers for my classes:
The stream will be used only for class announcements - assignments will not be posted there
Go to Classwork for assignments - I organize by units (Unit 1: Bootcamp) then assignments are numbered in the order that I post them 1.1, 1.2, etc. Please see 3-week calendars and due dates. SOME posted assignments will be ONLY for your records - you will NOT ALWAYS post your work in GC. Use baskets on countertop for other work that is due in hard copy form.
WARNING: The "Upcoming" box only shows a few days out, click on "view more" to get the full picture
NOTE: assignments may not be turned into GC after the deadline. Late assignments must be printed and turned in with a Late Form.
Use "class comments" under assignment if you have a question that applies to the assignment and relates to the whole class (this will eliminate the need for me to answer the same question multiple times and can help your classmates)
Use "private comment" if your question or comment is entirely between you and me or unique to your situation/topic
Please read my comments within your document in a timely manner but do not resolve them (see below). Do not reply to these comments - if you want clarification, use private comments or email.
ROUGH DRAFTS - before submitting your rough drafts, please make a copy for yourself so that you can begin revisions immediately. DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES to the Rough Draft you submitted for grading purposes, even after I return it to you AND do not resolve my comments. It is often helpful to me when grading your Final Draft, to refer back to your rough draft to calculate how much actual revision has been done. If both copies are identical, this looks to me as though you have merely submitted your Rough Draft as your Final Draft and will likely result in a lower score.

Grading questions should be addressed to me IN PERSON rather than over email or private comments.
