Mounds View is in the 2nd year of implementing the Amplify CKLA curriculum. This is a robust curriculum that engages students in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

Small groups will take place each week during WIN time. We will dig deeper into skills being taught during whole group lessons or work on other skills that may need more practice.

Word Study
Word Study
Word Study encompasses many topics. During this time students will work on vocabulary, grammar, word study (phonics, syllables, prefixes, suffixes, etc.), and cursive handwriting. Students will practice these skills throughout the week.

Math starts with a whole group mini lesson followed by independent practice. Students then work in groups doing math stations. This group work time allows me to work with students individually or in small groups.

Independent Practice:
Students should have the basic addition and subtraction facts memorized. Knowing these will help multi-digit addition and subtraction be more successful. Memorizing facts can be done through games, songs, or repetition.

Unit Studies consists of Social Studies, Science, and SEL (Social/Emotional Learning). Throughout the year we will rotate through units of each subject.
