I have been teaching in the Mounds View Schools for the past twenty-six years and have enjoyed it immensely. I have worked in fourth and fifth grade classrooms as well as teaching intervention reading and math.
I am married to my lovely wife, Kim, and we have two children, Odin & Anja. Anja is a freshman at Anderson University in South Carolina. She is studying to be an elementary school teacher. My son, Odin, started college at Bethel University to become a teacher.
Our dog, Trygger, was just joined by a "surprise" puppy we call Berkie. Our family loves to be outdoors and play sports together. My wife and I enjoy drinking coffee together on the swing in the backyard. Odin and I LOVE to fish together. Anja and I enjoy playing GamePigeon against each other. We all like playing board/card games together, too.
The outdoors are my happy place and I like to fish, hike, explore, and hunt. I look forward to learning more about YOU during this school year!
I am thrilled to be teaching fifth grade at Valentine Hills. This is my twenty-sixth year in the Mounds View school district. I spent much of my career at Sunnyside Elementary teaching first, second, fourth and fifth grades. I am so excited to be back at Valentine Hills this year!
When I am not in the classroom I am spending time with my wonderful family. I am married to Andy, who is a software architect. I have a son Marty who is almost 12 years old and in sixth grade. My daughter, Caroline is nine and in fourth grade this year. We love to ride bikes and swim.
In my free time I love to read, watch movies, and take spin classes. We also love to travel. We took an epic road trip this summer exploring South Dakota! I am looking forward to getting to know you all during this school year!
I am so excited to be back with the 5th grade team at Valentine Hills this year! This will be my tenth year at VH, and my 14th year of teaching overall.
When I'm not teaching I enjoy spending time outside hiking, camping, and canoeing. I love to travel and visit new places whenever possible. Women's soccer is another passion of mine, I love to cheer on the US Women's National Team, as well as our professional league, the NWSL.
I also enjoy reading books, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family (including my 2 cats, Leo and Lucy).
I got married this summer in June, and my husband Teddy and I traveled to New Zealand in August for our honeymoon!
I can't wait to get to know you all as we work together to make this an awesome 5th grade year!
I am so happy to return to the 5th grade team at Valentine Hills this school year! This is my 21st year as a teacher and my 10th year at VH. I am very excited to continue my learning alongside my students once again. I have taught a wide range of age levels from kindergarten to 6th grade. 5th grade is my sweet spot so this year should be another awesome experience.
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy being with my two munchkins. Ben is 11 and a sixth grader at Highview Middle school and my daughter Abby is 9 and will be a fourth grader. We love to be outside in the pool, at the lake, or exploring the great outdoors.
I also enjoy golfing, cooking, reading books, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. I'm excited to meet you and get to know you this school year.
I am so excited to be back teaching 5th grade again this year! This will be my 23rd year of teaching. 14 of those years were spent teaching at Highview Middle School, and this will be my 9th year of teaching at Valentine Hills.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and reading. I have a daughter in 8th grade and a son in 4th grade. This past summer we had many family adventures with the highlight being a road trip circling Lake Superior.
I look forward to getting to know you this year! Welcome to 5th grade!
I am incredibly excited to be joining the 5th grade team at Valentine Hills this year. This will be my second year in the Mounds View School District, and my 7th year as an elementary school teacher. Previously, I was a teacher in Richfield, MN and Boston, MA.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jeremiah, and two cats, Finn and Trixie. This past summer, I traveled to England to sing with my choir, VocalEssence Ensemble Singers. I had the honor of singing evensong at Westminster Abbey in London!
I am so looking forward to getting to know all of you this year! Let's make it a great year together!
