How do good digital citizens take responsibility for themselves, their communities, and their world?
It's computer science education week, and we are participating in the hour of code!
First and second grade students will be practicing directional coding with our Beebots and Kodable maze maker.
Fourth and Fifth grade students will be exploring Blockly and Javascript on code.org and Scratch.
Across all grade levels, we have been learning and discussing ways we can be safe, kind and responsible when using digital technology.
Our goal is for students to build healthy routines and habits with technology, and understand its purpose is for learning in our classroom.
Did you know: Jerry Lawson created the first video game cartridge? He was a pioneering computer scientist who loved to explore and create, he believed there was a lot you could learn from a well-designed game.
Check out this video about his life and work, and also game designers who created their own original video games inspired by his innovations.
Engineering Design Cycle
We will use this cycle when we work on STEAM challenges. Another important part of the design cycle is COMMUNICATION- sharing the ideas you have and things you learn with others helps build new knowledge and ideas!
