About Me - Ms. Hogan

    I grew up on the east coast in the Boston area. I moved out to Minnesota for college and I never left the midwest!

​

   After I graduated from Carleton College with a degree in English, I moved to Madison and got my Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction at University of Wisconsin-Madison. After finishing my Masters degree, I worked in a high school in Wisconsin for four years. I taught freshmen and sophomore English, as well as Creative Writing and acted as advisor to the school newspaper.

   My husband and I got married in 2018, and over the course of our relationship we have adopted a cat and a dog and had our first baby! We moved to Saint Paul in the spring of 2020 to be closer to family. We just recently moved to Shoreview to be closer to the MVSD community! We love it up here.

​

   I have a passion for helping students develop enriching, enjoyable reading lives, and for nurturing student writers. I love spending time with my family, reading, watching reality TV, swimming, hiking, walking my dog, listening to music, and cuddling my cat. I'm so excited to get to know you this year!


    I have been a teacher at Edgewood for three years, mostly teaching ELA 8, but also dabbling in ELA 6, ELA 7, and Reading. In the 2023-2024 school year, I am teaching ELA 8 and I'm so excited to get our 8th graders ready for high school and their lives beyond EW!
