The jewelry industry's dilemma lies in a scarcity of options for conscientious consumers, who must often sacrifice either style or sustainability. Traditional brands resort to materials associated with environmentally damaging mining practices or contributions to plastic landfills, while eco-friendly alternatives lack design appeal.
EARTHA bridges this gap by offering stylish, responsibly sourced accessories at an accessible price point, empowering consumers to prioritize both beauty and ethics.
Our Sourcing
We purchase these beautiful hand-crafted beads from the Krobo artisans, supporting their local business. Recycled glass waste such as glass bottles and windows are gathered, crushed into fine powder, then heated up to fuse the particles together. The molten glass is then poured into clay molds, and heated up in a kiln also composed of clay. After around 10-15 minutes in the kiln, the beads are taken out, and holes are created using cassava leaf stems. Using only sand and water, the beads are then polished by hand.
The driving force behind the creation of EARTHA was the conflict between our cultural background that values precious stones and our commitment to protecting our planet. After learning about how mining destroys ecosystems and communities in the homes of our friends, we hope to offer jewelry options that eliminate the worry of harming the environment.
