What Are Learning Scales?
Learning scales are developed to clearly show what knowledge and skills demonstrate a level of proficiency (3). Additionally, it shows knowledge and skills above and below proficiency (3).
How to use learning scales as a parent?
Parents (and students) can read the learning scales as a progression of learning. For example, a student must be able to do developing level criteria (2)Â BEFORE being able to do proficiency level criteria (3). And proficiency level criteria before being able to do mastery level criteria (4). These scales align with all performance assessments. As a parent, these scales should allow you to understand learning that is happening in this course. It could also be a tool for you to support your student at home (you can think of it as a study guide).
