My name is Leslie Drimel, and I teach 7th grade Life Science and Innovation.
A little about me...
I was born and raised in Michigan in a town called New Baltimore (about 30 min from Detroit).
Growing up in middle and high school, I was always interested in plants and animals. After graduating high school, I went to college at Michigan Technological University to study Forestry. I loved living in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and enjoyed backpacking, hiking, and other outdoor activities while living there. Upon completion of my bachelors degree I decided to come to the University of Minnesota to pursue a MS degree - at the College of Natural Resources on the St. Paul campus. My research focused on how well old growth forests were able to take carbon out of the atmosphere.
While I loved learning about natural resource management and ecology, I discovered that my true passion is helping others find joy in science and the natural world. I decided that teaching was my true calling and completed licensure requirements in both Life Science and Chemistry at Bemidji State University.
I have taught middle and high school science classes all over Minnesota. From Warroad, to Bemidji, to The Cities. My husband and I have three children, boy-girl twins (11th grade), and my youngest son is in 9th grade. In my free time I enjoy camping, backpacking, paddle boarding, exercising, and cooking.
