6th Grade Earth Science - Throughout the year the primary focus is always process. In a world where information is everywhere, we need our kids to learn to observe, think, question and identify problems. And then know how to approach those questions and problems like scientists and engineers.
Below is a list of the major units of study for 6th grade science:
The Scientific Process
History of Planet Earth
Geologic History of Earth
Plate Tectonics
Seafloor Spreading
Earth’s Materials and Systems
Weathering and Erosion
Geoscience Processes and Natural Hazard
Astronomy
Earth, sun and Moon System
The Solar System
The formation of galaxies
Weather and Climate
The water Cycle
Predicting Weather
Ocean Currents
Influences on Weather and Climate
Human Impact on Earth Systems
Human Impact on the Environment
Human Activities and Global Climate Change
Human Dependence on Natural Resources
It is very important to us here at Highview for the grade parents and students see to reflect what the student knows about the standards being taught. Students will be given feedback during the learning process, but the grading will only happen after the learning has taken place.
