WHAT PROJECTS ARE BEING PROPOSED?
Working with professional consultants, Mount Olive Township Board of Education identified upgrades to the district’s aging infrastructure to help ensure the health and safety of our students and staff as well as community members who use our facilities.
Input from community members, staff and administrators also helped determine the priority referendum projects needed to maintain Mount Olive’s tradition of educational excellence.
The proposal will be organized into two questions to address the following:
Upgrades to enhance health and safety at all our schools, and additional space to help maintain small class sizes and support modern educational standards
Improvements to transportation and athletic facilities
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN QUESTION 1?
Infrastructure Updates and Upgraded Spaces
Every school would receive HVAC improvements, including new air conditioning systems that efficiently cool large spaces and individual units to heat, cool and circulate air in classrooms. The high school would gain centralized controls that offer a higher level of efficiency and temperature consistency. Roofing would be replaced at nearly every school and the high school parking lot would be repaved.
Adding a second Multi-Purpose Room at Mount Olive Middle School would expand opportunities for our students with flexible space for physical education classes and integrated instruction such as cross-curricular and team-building activities, and areas that would meet the unique social-emotional needs of the students.
Added classrooms at Sandshore and Tinc Road would allow MOTSD to preserve the small class sizes that the community values.
A snapshot of what’s included for each school in Question 1:
Mount Olive High School
Replacing unit ventilators – the individual heating and cooling mechanics in classrooms – would enhance air circulation and improve energy and cost efficiency
Modernizing controls would create a more comfortable learning environment by maintaining more even temperatures from room to room and allowing single-point management of the system
Renovating the Manufacturing Lab would expand this space to encourage students to explore career pathways that combine entrepreneurship, production and delivery
Expanding the athletic trainer’s area would expand treatment and rehabilitation of student-athletes
Relocating the cardio/fitness area for all students that would continue to instill lifelong healthy habits
Adding a dedicated sensory room would provide a therapeutic space for students with special needs and the staff members who accompany them
Paving would be completed at the high school. A safer and more functional parking area would benefit students, parents and guests who attend events at the school
Mount Olive Middle School
Adding a Wellness Wing would better serve students with two new classrooms, a Multi-Purpose Room for physical education and other instruction, and storage for materials
Chester M. Stephens
Replacing unit ventilators in the modular classrooms would enhance air circulation and cost efficiency
Mountain View
Replacing unit ventilators would enhance air circulation and cost efficiency
The Wellness Wing would grant more opportunities for collaborative learning and reduce crowding.
A cohesive Manufacturing Lab would allow students to explore today's career pathways.
Sandshore
Installing HVAC condensing units would improve temperature control
Adding six new classrooms and four small-group instruction rooms would better meet students’ needs and maintain small class sizes
Tinc Road
Adding six new classrooms and four small-group instruction rooms would better meet students’ needs and maintain small class sizes
All Schools
New roofing is proposed for nearly every Mount Olive school - except Tinc Road, which has newer roofing – to reduce risks of damage and costly, unpredictable repairs that could disrupt school operations
New rooftop HVAC units would improve efficiency and temperature control

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN QUESTION 2?
Improvements to Transportation and Athletic Facilities
The projects proposed in Question 2 would support more efficient, reliable bus service and future savings on downtime due to repairs as well as modernize and expand outdated athletic facilities.
* Question 2 can only go into effect if voters also approve Question 1.
Transportation Improvements
Replacing the transportation garage with a new one that has an additional service bay would allow the district to reduce maintenance downtime by doing more repairs in-house
Replacing the existing, obsolete trailer with a new office for transportation personnel would allow a space for drivers to collaborate and participate in training on campus
Athletics Upgrades at MOHS
A new locker-room and storage area would house sporting equipment for physical education classes inside the school, allowing students and staff to maximize instructional time
Modernizing the outdated girls’ locker room with new flooring and paint would refresh the outdated space
Expanding the boys’ team room and coaches’ area would alleviate crowded conditions, enhancing the safety and functionality for those who use the space
The outdated Transportation buildings would be upgraded to help reduce downtime for bus maintenance and offer more on-site collaboration.
Storage is needed for physical education and team equipment as well as more space for student-athletes.
